I wanted to start a discussion about a supplement I recently came across — AREDS 2 + Omega-3 — which is specifically formulated for eye health and macular support.

As many of you probably know, the AREDS 2 formula (developed from the National Eye Institute’s clinical studies) is well-known for helping slow the progression of age-related macular degeneration (AMD). The core AREDS 2 formula typically includes:

Lutein and Zeaxanthin (for macular pigment support)

Vitamin C and E (powerful antioxidants)

Zinc and Copper (support retinal function)

But this version also adds Omega-3 fatty acids (DHA + EPA) — which are essential for retinal structure, brain function, and reducing inflammation. I've read that DHA, in particular, is highly concentrated in the retina and could further support vision clarity and eye hydration.

I just started taking the AREDS 2 + Omega-3 formula from The VitaShope, and I'm curious if anyone here has experience with it. I’m in my 50s, spend a lot of time in front of screens, and have a family history of AMD — so I thought it might be worth a try.

Some things I’d love to hear from you all:

Have you noticed improvements in visual clarity or reduced eye strain?

How long did it take before you started seeing any benefits?

Did it help with dry eyes or screen fatigue?

Any side effects or things to watch out for?

Is it worth the price compared to regular AREDS 2?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts! 👁️💊
