How important are accessibility and transport options when choosing a senior living facility in Pittsburgh suburbs vs. the city center?

My brother and I are checking out places for our aunt, and one thing that keeps coming up is location. She doesn’t drive anymore, so getting around would depend on family visits or shuttle services. Some of the places we’ve toured in the suburbs look peaceful and modern, but I wonder if being farther from the city would make it harder for her to stay connected with friends or go to appointments. Has anyone faced this dilemma?

We went through that when finding a place for my grandma. She lived her whole life downtown, so the idea of moving her to a quiet suburb felt strange at first. What actually helped us decide was realizing how much easier it was for us to visit her if the facility was closer to main roads and public transport. Some assisted living facilities in Pittsburgh, assisted living in Pittsburgh really put thought into transportation services, which made a huge difference for her routine. Having those options gave her more freedom and gave us peace of mind too.

My coworker had her father move into a senior residence last summer, and she mentioned how much time she saves each week by not having to drive across town in heavy traffic. She said even small details, like the shuttle buses being on a fixed schedule, made their planning so much easier. It sounded like those little conveniences really added up for the whole family over time.
